The International Hockey world was focused on New Zealand during the first 2 weeks of December as New Zealand Hockey hosted the Champions Trophy Tournament for the first time. Could New Zealand pull off the delivery of such a high profile event with just 3 months notice, you bet! The tournament involved 8 of the worlds best teams and the Black Sticks finishes a very credible 4th, the highest ever finish by our boys who were obviously stirred on by the passionate local support.

The HireQuip Events Auckland team partnered up with New Zealand Hockey to turn North Harbour Hockey Stadium into a truly international events venue through the construction of temporary grandstands, hospitality suite, media centre, a public café and trade exhibition pavilions.

Over the course of the build up the Events Team experienced a week of extremely high winds and through the removal torrential rain which made for very difficult working conditions. All measures were taken to operate in line with our religious health & safety policy and special mention needs to go to Harold Walker, our key marquee operation guy who worked through thick & thin taking every precaution to deliver a top quality venue on time to our customer.

Fit out of the marquees includes tables, chairs, carpet, couches, linen clothes and chair covers, café table and market umbrellas, plants, plasma screens, bar leaners, phone and television cabling and a range of other equipment and services required to host such a prestigious event. As a result of the enormous success New Zealand Hockey are now looking to host further international tournament sin the years to come and HireQuip Events will be right there in support.

...and yes, those Aussies won again!
